ATHLETICS

Women’s marathon — Lanni Marchant of London, Ont., completed the course in two hours, 33 minutes and eight seconds to finish 24th; Krista DuChene, Brantford, Ont., was 35th (2:35:29).

BADMINTON

Women’s singles — Michelle Li, Markham, Ont., lost to Sindhu Pursala of India, 2-1 (19-21, 21-15, 21-17) and is 1-1 in her group.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL

Women — Heather Bansley, Waterdown, Ont., and Sarah Pavan, Kitchener, Ont., lost in the quarter-finals, 2-0 (21-14, 21-14) to the top-seeded team of Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst, Germany.

BOXING

Men’s light welterweight 64 kg) — Arthur Biyarslanov, Toronto, was eliminated after losing a 2-0 decision to Germany’s Artem Harutyunyan.

Women’s middleweight (69-75 Kg) — Ariane Fortin, St-Nicholas, Que., lost 2-1 in her round-of-16 match to Dariga Shakimova of Kazakhstan.

CYCLING

Women’s sprint — Kate O’Brien, Calgary, was 12th in qualification with 11.020 seconds; lost to Natasha Hansen, New Zealand, by 0.183 seconds (11.583) in the round of 32; Monique Sullivan, Calgary, placed 17th (11.143) in qualification; lost by 0.150 (11.6349) to Briton Katy Marchand; both were eliminated in the same repechage heat where O”Brien finished second by 0.061 seconds (11.527) and Sullivan was third (11.720).

DIVING

Women’s three-metre springboard — Jennifer Abel of Laval, Que., placed fourth in the final with 367.25 points; Pamela Ware, Greenfield Park, Que., was seventh (323.15).

EQUESTRIAN

Individual jumping — Amy Millar, Perth, Ont., aboard Heros, and Eric Lamaze of Schomberg, Ont. (Fine Lady 5) had flawless runs in the first qualification round; Yann Candele, Caledon, Ont. (First Choice 15), and Tiffany Foster, North Vancouver, B.C. (Tripple X III), each incurred four penalties. The second round will be held Tuesday.

Team jumping — Canada is tied with three other countries for third place after the opening session.

GOLF

Men — Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Sask., shot a two-under-par 69 in the final round to place 20th overall with 280; David Hearn, Brantford, Ont., had a 66 and finished in a tie for 30th (283).

GYMNASTICS (ARTISTIC)

Women’s vault — Shallon Olsen, Vancouver, was eighth in the event with a score of 14.816.

SAILING

470 class — Graeme and Jacob Saunders, both Chester, N.S., were 14th and 17th in the day’s race. With three races remaining in the preliminary round, they rank 22nd overall with a score of 130.

Finn class — Tom Ramshaw, Toronto, crossed the line 20th in both races, and will not qualify for the medal race after placing 21st overall (174).

Nakra 17 — Nikola Girke of West Vancouver, B.C., and Luke Ramsay, Vancouver, placed 11th, 17th and ninth to finish 15th overall (154), did not qualify for the medal run.

SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING

Duets — Jacqueline Simoneau, Saint-Laurent, Que., and Karine Thomas, Gatineau, Que., are seventh following the preliminary round’s free routine with 90.0667 points. The event continues Monday with the technical program.
