Director Ryan Coogler is bringing the classic 1990s TV series The X-Files back.

Gillian Anderson has revealed she is open to returning to the iconic sci-fi series now Ryan Coogler is reportedly onboard for a reboot.

“I’m not saying no, because I think [Coogler] is really cool,” she said. “And I think if he did it, it probably would be done incredibly well. Maybe I’ll pop in for a little somethin’-somethin.'”

The actress gushed over the filmmaker and said his involvement was a ‘perfect way’ to revive’ the show.

It’s a change of tune for Anderson, who has said since 2018 that she would probably not ever play Scully again. But fans of The X-Files know nothing is impossible.

The only thing known about the series is that it will continue director Ryan Coogler’s trend of featuring a diverse cast, something the original series was lacking. The series is envisioned as a reboot, which means it will likely not be a continuation, but instead offer a totally fresh start to The X-Files. It is unclear where the series will air, or whether it will be a TV show or a streaming exclusive.
