Paramount+ has announced a new three-part docuseries called I Wanna Rock: The ’80s Metal Dream.

It will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ on July 18 in the United States and Canada, then to the U.K. and Australia on July 19, with more international releases to follow into the summer.

The series will be split into three episodes and follow members of Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Winger, Vixen and the Scream. These artists may not have been the most popular or successful of the ’80s hair metal lineup- like Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue, or Def Leppard. But their stories are better suited to this series because they illustrate the struggle of the music industry, the devastating lows, and often short-lived highs.

The series is divided into three episodes:

Ep 101 – “I Wanna Be Somebody”

As ’80s metal sweeps America, five rockers set out to make it in the world of hair spray and spandex.

Ep 102 – “Headed for Heartbreak”

Metal has been taken to new heights. As our rockers become stars, they battle personal demons, sexism – and even Congress.

Ep 103 – “Smells Like Change”

From country to grunge, the world’s taste in music is changing, and every metal musician is fighting for survival. Some will make it, some won’t … but all will be changed forever.
