The 89th Academy Awards were held on Sunday night, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel!

These are a few of our favourite moments – including the unexpected twist for Best Picture!

Jimmy Kimmel is such a natural host, but one of our favourite parts was when he kept the crowd happy by dropping Jr. Mints, Red Vines and all sorts of treats from the ceiling!

He also brought a bus full of unsuspecting tourists (only hoping for a celebrity sighting, while in Hollywood), right into the award ceremony! #DreamComeTrue

Jimmy Kimmel continued his ongoing feud with Matt Damon, and had an Oscars rendition of ‘Mean tweets’:

We also loved Sting’s performance; it was a beautiful somber solo of ‘The Empty Chair’. And for an entirely different set of reasons, we enjoyed Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson attempting to sing a song from Moana!

Vancouver locals, Michael J. Fox and Seth Rogen presented an award together, which allowed Seth Rogan to complete his entire bucket list by riding in ‘The DeLorean’, wearing Back to the Future-style shoes and then sang a song from the musical Hamilton!

Drum roll please! The top 5 categories went to….

Best supporting Actor: Mahershala Ali won for his role in ‘Moonlight’.

Best Supporting Actress: Viola Davis for her work in ‘Fences’.

Actor in a Leading Role: Casey Affleck won for ‘Manchester by the Sea’.

Actress in a Leading Role: goes to Emma Stone in ‘La La Land’.

*And this is where things got interesting…

Best Picture: Going down in Oscar history, the incorrect movie was announced as Best Picture!

It was officially won by ‘Moonlight’, although Warren Beatty was given the incorrect envelope, and originally read that it was won by ‘La La Land’!!
